What was the Korean War?
The Korean war was right between the vietnam war and WWII. It statred on June 25,1950 and lasted for four years. It was a conflict between America and North Korea. It is also the first military action during the cold war. Not only was it a war to see who would have control over the South have of Korea (South Korea), but it was also a war against communism. During the time of the war, communism was spreading and was becoming a terrible thing in the US. North Korea was a communist country and was threatening South Korea and the US.
Why is the Korean War the "Forgotten War"?
The Korean war was called the "Forgotten War" becase it was between Vietnam War and WWII. Because these two wars where so big they overshadowed the Korean War. The Korean war only lasted four years, so it was not as big as the other two wars. Some people do not even realise that over five million soldiers and civillions died during that war. There was an estimated 7,190 POW's (Prisoners of war) during the Korean war. Over 3,000 of those POW's died in captivity before the end of the war.
